Progress

This roadmap is our direction, not a victory lap. We’ll keep updating this page as we learn, improve, and ship better.

What’s already in motion

  • Luggage: ISO14001 / ISO45001 / SA8000 + sustainable practices
  • Bags: paper filling, zero plastic waste policy, vegan leather, etc.
  • Packaging: zero plastics, paper tape/wrapping/boxes, no plastic handles
  • Brand programs: refurbish/resell + “Million-Mile Return” + trade-in concept

Building the infrastructure

  • Solar-powered fulfillment center: planning, monitoring, battery storage, efficiency upgrades
  • Manufacturing improvements: solar transition, better materials, waste/water reduction
  • Shipping + packaging improvements: eco packaging + greener logistics

Carbon neutral + leadership

  • 100% renewable energy across operations
  • R&D labs for carbon-neutral materials + manufacturing
  • Industry leadership (share learnings, mentorship, advocacy, open-source patents)

Sustainability Roadmap FAQ

It’s our long-term plan to become 100% carbon neutral by 2035. The roadmap outlines what we’re doing now, what we’re building next, and where we’re heading long term across products, packaging, logistics, and operations.

We’ve already started making changes across materials, packaging, and manufacturing, including:

  • Eliminating plastic from packaging where possible
  • Using paper filling, paper tape, and recyclable cartons
  • Working with factories that meet international standards like ISO14001, ISO45001, and SA8000
  • Reducing waste in bag production and improving material sourcing

These steps are already in motion, not future promises.

Where possible, yes.

We use vegan leather alternatives, durable synthetic fabrics, and materials selected for longevity and lower environmental impact. Our focus is not just on materials, but also on making products that last longer so they’re replaced less often.

We’ve removed plastic from most of our packaging, including:

  • No plastic bags or plastic wrapping
  • No plastic tape or handles
  • Paper-based protective materials instead

Reducing plastic waste is one of our earliest and most concrete steps.

We work with manufacturing partners that:

  • Follow certified environmental and labor standards
  • Actively reduce waste and improve efficiency
  • Are planning or transitioning toward renewable energy usage

Long term, we aim to help factories move toward solar-powered production.

Yes.

Between 2025 and 2030, we plan to develop solar-powered fulfillment and operations infrastructure, with the goal of transitioning to 100% renewable energy across operations by 2035.

We are exploring programs that extend the life of our products, including:

  • Repair, refurbish, and resale initiatives
  • Trade-in or return programs that reduce landfill waste

The goal is to keep Nex products in use for as long as possible.

Shipping is a major environmental challenge. We’re working toward:

  • More efficient fulfillment operations
  • Improved packaging efficiency
  • Long-term partnerships with greener logistics solutions

This is an ongoing effort and part of our mid- to long-term roadmap.

No — and we want to be transparent about that.

Carbon neutrality is our 2035 goal, not our current state. This roadmap exists to clearly show how we plan to get there.

We’ll continue to update this page as we make progress, adjust plans, and learn.

Sustainability isn’t a one-time achievement for us — it’s an ongoing process, and this roadmap is how we hold ourselves accountable publicly.

Because real sustainability takes time.

We’d rather move steadily, be honest about where we are, and improve year by year than make vague or exaggerated claims today.
